Krista Barron

Krista Barron has 20 years industry experience in business and legal affairs and sales administration in the public and private sectors having worked at Alliance Communications Corporation, Malofilm International, BBC Worldwide Americas, Telefilm Canada and British Columbia Film.

At British Columbia Film, Krista enjoyed 7 years in the Tax Credit Program, as Business Analyst, and then Senior Business Analyst. She played a key role in the early stages of the Program, helping to shape policy and procedure in the administration of the Tax Credit Program on behalf of the Province. In addition to her primary role analyzing hundreds of applications, assisting producers with interpretation of and ensuring compliance with legislation to achieve certification, Krista also participated in research and analysis which resulted in material changes to existing tax credit legislation and the implementation of new tax credit programs, such as the Digital Animation or Visual Effects (DAVE) Tax Credit.

Krista also participated in the selection committee for British Columbia Film's various development and production financing programs, and was a juror for some of British Columbia Film's short film competition partnerships such as DGC's Kick Start and CBC's Signature Shorts.

In 2006, Krista and her family returned to Toronto where after being on maternity leave, she enjoyed a brief engagement at the Ontario Media Development Corporation as Acting Business Officer for the Ontario Film and Television Tax Credit, familiarizing herself with the Ontario tax credit landscape.
