Jamie Whitney
Director

After Graduating from Sheridan College's Classical Animation diploma course, Jamie worked on commercials, features and TV series across Canada. After honing his skills animating, designing and storyboarding, Jamie focused his attention on directing.

At Nelvana Jamie cut his directorial teeth on the third season of Eek the Cat. From Eek Jamie moved onto directing the first 17 episodes of Bob and Margaret. While working on this series, Jamie reintroduced the process of 'leica reels' back into Nelvana's film vocabulary, setting a new standard of quality control and giving some teeth back to animation timing. Bob and Margaret also provided Jamie with the opportunity to launch his first foray into script writing: he wrote the episode "The Trouble with Mommy".

From there, Jamie moved onto Maggie and the Ferocious Beast, which earned a Gemini for Best Children's Series. Jamie also directed the series Max and Ruby, as well as a half-hour TV adaptation of the comic strip Foolish Girl.

In 2002 Jamie joined 9 Story Entertainment, where he became character designer and Animation Director on the Emmy award winning Peep and the Big Wide World. Jamie's greatest pleasure came in adapting the internationally acclaimed children's book If the World Were a Village into a Gemini nominated half-hour special. He has just completed directing 10 half-hour episodes of Jacob Two-Two, and is now in the midst of directing 14 new episodes of Max and Ruby.
