Peep and His Friends Are Again Chirping "Emmy"
Toronto, March 7, 2006
The stars of Peep and the Big Wide World are
keeping their feathers crossed that the hit animated children's show, a winner of last year's
Daytime Emmy Awards, will once again be the critics' choice.
Produced by WGBH Educational Foundation (Boston) and Toronto's 9 Story Entertainment,
Peep and the Big Wide World last year won an Emmy for Outstanding Children's Animated
Program after its breakout first season.
The second season of Peep carried on the winning ways of the first: featuring the narration of
actress Joan Cusack, the theme song performed by blues legend Taj Mahal and, of course the
antics of Peep the baby chicken and his friends Chirp the Robin and Quack the irrepressible
blue duck.
"Peep was the first show produced by 9 Story and will always have a special place in our
company's history," said Vince Commisso, partner and executive producer of
9 Story Entertainment. "The quality of the show sets the high standard for everything we
produce."
Other 9 Story productions include the animated series Skyland and the television adaptation of
the children's classic If the World Were a Village.
Peep's Emmy, bestowed by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation, was
followed by a Canadian ACT Award and a 2005 Gemini Award for Best Pre-School Series.
Peep and the Big Wide World airs six days a week on TVO and appears in the U.S. on the
Discovery Kids network as well as TLC.
Peep and the Big Wide World is produced by WGBH-Boston and 9 Story Entertainment, in
association with TVOntario and Discovery Kids.
Founded in 2001, 9 Story Entertainment has quickly become a leading Canadian digital
animation producer, dedicated to delivering high-quality content. 9 Story is led by Vince
Commisso and Steven Jarosz, who bring more than 25 years of combined specialized industry
experience and leadership in corporate and production finance, operations management, and
animation production. The 9 Story team includes Rick Marshall Director of more than 200
animated television episodes and Jamie Whitney, a Gemini-award-winning Director.
