9 STORY BEGINS PRODUCTION ON HARRIET THE SPY

Multi-award-winning production and distribution company 9 Story Entertainment will begin production today in Hamilton, Ontario on Harriet the Spy, a new live-action movie set to premiere in 2010 on Disney Channels worldwide and CBC, Movie Central (MC) and YTV in Canada, it was announced by CEO Vince Commisso. Jennifer Stone, best known for her role as 'Harper' on Disney Channel's Emmy® Award-Winning series "Wizards of Waverly Place," has been tapped to star as high school student HARRIET "THE SPY" WELSCH.
Based on the classic books by Louise Fitzhugh, Harriet the Spy features Harriet Welsch, one of the most iconic characters in literature. The production is the first global movie alliance for Disney Channel.
The movie features HARRIET "THE SPY" WELSCH, who is determined to become her high school's class blogger. Competing against her nemesis - the very popular Marion Hawthorne - Harriet sets out to do whatever it takes for the honor. So when Harriet's father, movie producer Roger Welsch signs a deal to make a sequel to the smash hit teen-musical, SPY HIGH, Harriet senses her perfect opportunity. Harriet, despite her disdain for him, decides to blog about Skander Hill, the movie's popular teen heart-throb with hilariously catastrophic results!
The movie is directed by Ron Oliver (A Dennis the Menace Christmas, Goosebumps) from a script by Heather Conkie (Heartland) and her daughter, up-and-coming writer Alexandra Clarke, who joined forces on the project. Blake McGrath (So You Think You Can Dance) will choreograph
Harriet the Spy is executive produced by 9 Story Entertainment's Vince Commisso, Steve Jarosz and Natalie Osborne. 2 Friends Entertainment principals, Nancy Steingard and Wendy Moss-Klein will also serve as Executive Producers.
