9 STORY SECURES SECOND SEASON COMMISSION FROM YTV FOR SURVIVE THIS
TORONTO - Sep 15, 2009
On the heels of the debut season ratings success on Canada's YTV and the overwhelming response to a call for new contestants for Survive This, Canada-based production company 9 Story Entertainment has secured a second season order from YTV. The company commenced production on 13 new episodes of the series earlier this month featuring a brand new cast in a different remote setting who must overcome a unique set of survival challenges.
In addition to YTV, the first season of Survive This has been sold to Cartoon Network (US), Cartoon Network (Latin America), YLE (Finland), SVT (Sweden), Noga (Israel) and Teleview (Middle East). Discussions with additional international broadcasters are ongoing.
Created by 9 Story and wilderness survival expert and filmmaker, Les Stroud, Survive This is an exciting adventure series that challenges teenagers to push their limits, overcome fears and develop lifelong survival skills. Hosted by Les Stroud, the first episode of season two is set around a plane crash and subsequent episodes continue to test the endurance, wit and self-determination of the contestants as they survive in the remote wilderness. Eight new teen contestants (again, ranging from ages 14-17) have been chosen to participate in this season's new intense challenges, forcing this newest group to be even more innovative and courageous as they use the skills they have learned from Stroud.
At the end of every survival challenge Stroud gives feedback and direction, and offers each challenger the opportunity to end his or her journey to head back to the comforts of home. Those who remain will continue to compete until a winner is chosen in the final episode.
At MIPCOM, 9 Story Entertainment will be offering a full slate of new and popular returning programs for children and tweens at Stand 2.10.
