All aboard 9 Story for the magical trip to Skyland
Toronto, march 30, 2006
9 Story Entertainment's awe-inspiring animated epic
Skyland will begin regular airing in Canada April 22.
The sci-fi action adventure series, which boasts eye-popping visuals, debuted this past
November through a global sneak peek in Canada on TELETOON, as well as in the
U.S., France and Latin America.
Set to air weekly later this spring, Skyland is a co-production of Toronto's 9 Story
Entertainment and Method Films of France.
"Skyland is our biggest undertaking and most technically complex achievement to date,
and judging by the incredible feedback of our broadcast partners, Skyland is poised to
become a hit in Canada and beyond," said Vince Commisso, partner and executive
producer of 9 Story Entertainment.
Set in the year 2251, Skyland presents a floating world, in which the Great Wall of
China and the Empire State Building stand side by side, and where the Eiffel Tower is
visible from the Great Pyramid of Cheops. In this future world, two extraordinary
children, Mahad and his sister Lena, battle to free their mother from the Sphere, the
dictatorship that rules over this new world order.
Skyland is a visual feast! 9 Story Entertainment and Method Films have created a
stunning cinematographic series using hand-drawn images, 2D and 3D animation, and
full motion-capture production standards normally applied only to feature-length movies.
The series will air in its regular timeslot of Saturdays and Sundays at 7:30 p.m., starting
April 22, 2006. TELETOON is a co-production partner of Skyland and holds the
exclusive Canadian broadcast rights.
Skyland will also premiere on major terrestrial broadcasters in Europe, the U.S., Latin
America and Australia later in 2006. Broadcast partners, including France 2, ITV (United
Kingdom), and ABC (Australia). Nickelodeon U.K., Spain, Germany, Nordic (Norway,
Sweden, Denmark), Holland, Italy, Nickelodeon in Israel, and Nick Latin America, will
receive Skyland in 2006.
