9 Story Entertainment's Survive This Finds U.S. Home at Cartoon Network
Toronto, CA - March 30, 2009
Leading Canadian-based production and distribution studio, 9 Story Entertainment has secured a major U.S. sale for Survive This, the all-new live-action adventure series for kids, with Cartoon Network's order for all 13 x 22 minutes of the series. 9 Story's announcement comes on the heels of Cartoon Network's recent NY Upfronts presentation announcing the series as part of their fall line.
"We are thrilled to have Cartoon Network as our US broadcast partner on this live-action and very real series that challenges the survival skills of teenagers," said 9 Story CEO Vince Commisso. "Survive This is fresh, original content that will keep audiences captivated and inspired by the reality of what it takes to survive in the wilderness. The series meshes perfectly with Cartoon Networks evolution as the dominant youth culture brand".
Created by 9 Story and wilderness survival expert and filmmaker, Les Stroud, and commissioned by YTV, Canada, Survive This is an exciting adventure series that challenges teenagers to push their limits, overcome fears and develop lifelong survival skills. Hosted by Les Stroud, each episode aims to test endurance, wit and self-determination. Eight teens, ages 14 to 17, are thrust into various survival challenges over the course of the 13-episode season.
After Stroud gives some direction, the group is left to build shelter, forage for food and survive against the perils of the harsh wilderness. The challenges get more and more demanding as the series progresses, forcing the group to be innovative and courageous and use the skills that Stroud has taught them. At the end of every survival challenge Stroud gives feedback and direction, and offers each challenger the opportunity to end his or her journey to head back to the comforts of home.
