Toronto, May 31, 2007
9 Story Entertainment's 2D animated special, If The World Were A Village has been awarded the prestigious The Alliance for Children and Television 2007 Award (ACT) of Excellence in the category of Animation Age 6-8. The awards, which honor Canada's top English language and children's and youth programs, were announced on May 31st, at a gala event held at the CBC's studios.
Based on the award-winning book by the same name, If the World Were a Village features an entire world as a village of just 100 people. The special explores who we are, where we live, how fast we are growing, what languages we speak and more.
This is the second award this year for the series. If The World Were A Village was also awarded the 2007 Canadian Screenwriting Award for Children & Preschool (Writer: Kate Barris). In 2006 the series was nominated for two Gemini Awards and was a Prix Jeunesse International Finalist - Age 7-11 Non Fiction.
