World Screen - May 30, 2007
TORONTO, May 30: 9 Story Entertainment has secured a broadcast deal with ABC Kids in Australia for its 2-D digital animated series Best Ed and has also granted the video distribution rights to Australian video and DVD distributor Madman Entertainment.
ABC is tentatively set to air Best Ed—which is currently in production and scheduled for delivery in early 2008—as part of their afternoon prime-time block.
The 52x11-minute series was commissioned by TELETOON in Canada and Cartoon Network U.K. The company has also secured pre-sale deals for the property with Cartoon Network Europe and the Middle East. Best Ed revolves around the unlikely friendship between the always-helpful Ed, a dog, and his squirrel pal Buddy.
"We are pleased to have both ABC and Madman as our newest broadcast and distribution partners," said Natalie Osborne, the executive VP of business development for 9 Story. "Best Ed is today's odd couple for kids. We are thrilled that the series is being met with great interest so early in production and are certainly delighted to have found such outstanding entertainment partners for best friends, Ed and Buddy."
