TORONTO: The animated preschool series Wibbly Pig leads off 9 Story Entertainment's production slate, which also includes the live-action offering Survive This and new episodes of Best Ed.
The 52x10-minute Wibbly Pig, co-produced with Wish Films, features an inquisitive character who turns simple, daily tasks into a comedy routine. The series is co-distributed with BBC Worldwide and has already secured broadcast agreements with Canada's TVO and Knowledge Network. The 13x22-minute Survive This features eight 14- to 16-year-olds who head to the wilderness to survive on their own for three weeks with no food, shelter or video games. The series was commissioned for YTV Canada.
9 Story is also producing new episodes of Best Ed, an original production for TELETOON in Canada and Cartoon Network U.K. Scheduled for completion by April, the series has been presold to Cartoon Network for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Korea and ABC in Australia. Meanwhile, Peep and the Big Wide World will return for a fourth season with six new episodes for TVO, Knowledge and SRC. Max and Ruby also returns for a fourth season with 12 episodes.
"Our production lineup for 2009 mirrors the growth of 9 Story's development and acquisitions this past year," said Vince Commisso, the CEO of 9 Story Entertainment. "We are firmly committed to these exciting projects and look forward to bringing more properties, like these, from development to production."
