MARBLEMEDIA AND 9 STORY ENTERTAINMENT JOIN TO CO-DEVELOP KIDS ANIMATED COMEDY SERIES GNASTY GNOMES
Companies Will Present a Never-Seen-Before Animated Demo at MIPCOM
Toronto - September 27, 2010
marblemedia and 9 Story Entertainment today announced a partnership to co-develop Gnasty Gnomes, a new animated comedy series for kids 6-11 based on the children's book of the same name by R.L. Stine, creator of the popular Goosebumps series. An animated demo has been produced, and will launch at MIPCOM this year.
Gnasty Gnomes follows the adventures of the Gnasty Family — a clan of mischievous gnomes whose antics and disgusting pranks make life more "interesting" for their human and animal neighbours. Each episode follows the escapades of 10-year-old Wort Gnasty, whose sole purpose is to be the "Gnastiest Gnasty Gnome there ever was." To accomplish this, he seeks to make the world as "chaotic, unpredictable, and gross" as possible, starting with his own neighbourhood.
"Developing Gnasty Gnomes with an acclaimed company like 9 Story Entertainment allows us to combine creative forces to tell unique stories for this exciting new series," says Matt Hornburg, Partner/Executive Producer, marblemedia. "They produce great story-focused content for kids, and we're very happy to be collaborating with them."
"We are pleased to be working with marblemedia on this project, as they are known for innovative cross-platform production," Vince Commisso, CEO, 9 Story Entertainment." We look forward to working with them to bring this story to life. The television series will be complemented by a 'gnasty' online interactive environment that kids will love."
The companies will share in distribution, with 9 Story handling Latin America, Italy and Spain, and marblemedia's distribution arm, Distribution360, handling all other territories. Additionally, marblemedia is currently in discussions with potential licensees to market Gnasty Gnomes toys, games, and other merchandise.
